Karim Benzema grew up with four brothers in the city of Bron near Lyon. Farid Benzema was one of his two older brothers. Farid was born to  Hafid Benzema and Wahida Djebbara in France but is also of Algerian descent like the rest of the family.

Unlike Karim Benzema and his two younger brothers Gressy Benzema and Sabri Benzema, Farid did not pursue a career in football. Nonetheless, he is still a huge football fan and will be supporting his brother Karim as he leads his side Real Madrid to face Liverpool in Paris.
